With a wave of humidity, Singapore lay before me with all it had to offer - sights, shopping and sunshine! The Lion City was ready to show me what it was made of... and it certainly didn't disappoint! The best bit? All expenses paid... yep, a FREE Incentive Trip!
Now, if you follow me, I hail from Melbourne, Australia and at this time of year, it's starting to get a little on the chilly side. Singapore is just north of the equator so that means sun, humidity and light! Love, love and love!
Of course, Scentsy being the extraordinary company they are, flew us in comfort via Qantas straight into the citadel that is Changi Airport. Now, I'm no stranger to travel however Changi Airport is a sight to be seen - shopping mecca! And really, really easy to get lost in - cue ground transfer staff. Phew! Thankfully, most things are in English so easy to navigate.Scentsy likes to spoil Incentive Earners to the nth degree and well, I'm a huge lover of opulence and luxury and I wasn't disappointed when I walked into the lobby of the extravagant Fairmont Hotel. Absolutely spectacular and the epitome of 5 star grandness! Snazzy huh?
And to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our Singapore experience, Scentsy gifted us with a most generous meals/spending allowance, a 3 sight pass to experience all that Singapore had to show and a fully loaded MRT (Mass Rapid Transport) pass to get around this beautiful country. Barely had to spend a cent!On our first night, to ensure we roared into Singapore in style, Scentsy splashed out on a fully catered welcome reception on the 71st floor, with an impressive drum show and of course, hang out with Home Office staff and rub shoulders with Scentsy owners, Heidi and Orville Thompson.
Guaranteed that once you have experienced a Scentsy Incentive Trip, you will never miss another. Can I just say incredible?
Many animals free-ranged throughout the zoo with many opportunities for up, close and personals with several species, including elephants, monkeys, orangutans and my favourites, tamarins! And of course, can't go past a little bit of souvenir shopping to mark the occasion. You can't visit Singapore without partaking in a little bit of karaoke with other Scentsy consultants. Little bit of a sing, little bit of a dance and then we found ourselves at the iconic Raffles Long Bar.
A little bit of Singapore history - the Long Bar was the first establishment to serve Singapore Slings.. along with complimentary peanuts! Shells on the floor! Natural wax slinger, it only made scents to check out Madame Tussauds wax museum on Sentosa Island.
Liz and I made some friends (I'm besties with the Royals now). Treated to a fully interactive tour of Singapore history, we then wandered through the museum showcasing some of the worlds most famous celebrities. Johnny Depp is shorter than I imagined and well, Angelina Jolie is just stunning, right down to the eye colour! Heading back to the Fairmont to organise our next outing, we experienced our first Singapore thunderstorm and downpour! Liz and I decided an afternoon of shopping was on the cards. If you can't beat em, join em right? The Fairmont Hotel not only has a shopping complex attached, it also has a rabbit warren of shops, restaurants, outlets and a supermarket sequestered underneath the hotel. Grabbed a bite to eat, marvelled at some of the authentic cuisine and shopped until our feet were on fire!
Next day was all about experiencing the real Singapore - Mustafa Markets! 6 floors jam packed with everything you can imagine. Right down to fabrics to toiletries to pots and pans. And a multitude of souvenirs! Found myself loads of Tiger Balm products and a few gifts for friends back home, we taxi'd back to the hotel to bask in some reflexology to calm our aching feet, ready to party it up for our Awards Night, being held at the incredible Universal Studios. Umm, say what? Yep, Scentsy knows exactly how to look after its consultants and to ensure we knew how valued we are, Scentsy Home Office wowed us by organising exclusive after hours access to several rides and the wonder that is Universal Studios. Unlimited Transformers amusement rides, access to Lights, Camera, Action and several souvenir stores, Scentsy went above and beyond to spoil us.
Just when you think it couldn’t get any better than that, we were seated to a four course meal and private entertainment. Scattered throughout were a host of “in house” Scentsy Awards and the chance to mingle and chat with the entire group as a whole. Yep, I'm with you... incredible!
Our final day (13th May) was capped off by a very special event. Marking the 3rd anniversary of my best friend's passing, Liz and I ventured to the widely acclaimed Gardens by the Bay to scatter some of Lou's ashes in one of her most favourite places. Gardens by the Bay includes two huge glass domes: Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. Both are temperature and climate controlled in a bid to sustainably ensure the protection of many fauna species from around the world. Cloud Forest is something out of Jurassic Park - misty, green, cool and tropical, it is a veritable rainforest where you can walk amongst the clouds. My friends know I am phobic of heights yet Liz helped me face my fears and walk amongst the treetops.
Flower Dome is sectioned into continents of the world, showcasing the beautiful flowers and fauna from all corners of the globe, finishing off in a splendid array of tulips. By the end, you could only feel calm and serene.
