A Scentsy warmer is a small electric dish for scented wax. Break a cube or two off a Scentsy Bar, drop it in the dish and switch it on. Gentle heat melts the wax and the fragrance fills the room, with no flame, no smoke and nothing to blow out before bed. When the fragrance has run its course, swap the wax for another and start again.
Start with the room rather than the warmer: big open spaces want a full-size warmer, small rooms are happier with a Mini. Our complete guide to Scentsy Warmers goes through it in more detail.
Lots of people search for a “wax burner” or “wax melt burner”, and that’s fine — it’s the name most of us grew up with. But a Scentsy warmer is electric and flameless. Scentsy wax starts to melt at around 32°C, while a candle flame runs upwards of 230°C, so the wax is warmed, never burned, and the fragrance is carried into the room instead of being cooked off. Here’s the full story on burners versus warmers, and why Scentsy wax doesn’t belong in an oil burner.
Bulb warmers need the right wattage. Most Mini Warmers take a 15W bulb (a few take 10W), most Standard Warmers take 25W and a good number take 20W. The wattage is printed on the metal neck of the old bulb, and every warmer’s page on this site lists its Bulb Type. The replacement bulb guide explains it all, and replacement bulbs come in clear and in colours.
How many cubes should I use?
One cube gives a gentle fragrance; two or three will fill a room. Turn the dish over — the number on the bottom tells you how many cubes it comfortably holds.
Can I mix fragrances?
Yes. Pop a cube each of two favourites into the same dish and you’ve made a blend nobody else has.
Can I use Scentsy wax without a warmer?
Please don’t put it in an oil burner over a tealight. It’s made for the low, steady heat of a warmer, and a flame overheats it.
Where do I find the wax?
All the current fragrances are under Scentsy Bars — well over 80 of them, from fresh and fruity to warm and cosy.
